The main aim of the CSR Program at PAPCO is the social upliftment / betterment of the citizens of Pakistan and to build a healthier and educated nation.
The CSR program at PAPCO focuses mainly in the areas of:
Education
Health
Community Development
Education
PAPCO believes in the fact that in order to build strong societies, we must have well educated individuals at all levels. PAPCO has supported the education of numerous underprivileged children.
TCF is a professionally managed, non-profit organization set up in 1995 by a group of citizens concerned with the dismal state of education in Pakistan. It is now one of Pakistan’s leading organizations in the field of formal education. TCF accommodates the underprivileged children who cannot afford education on their own. PAPCO partnered with TCF by sponsoring the education of the underprivileged children.
SOS Children's Villages is an international non-governmental social development organisation that focuses on family-based, long-term care of children who can no longer grow up with their biological families. PAPCO has supported a complete house of 10 children with a maid at SOS Children’s Village, Karachi. Under the support program, PAPCO will cover maintenance of the house, food, stationery and school fees etc.
Health
In the health sector, PAPCO has supported institutions, well known for providing quality healthcare to the needy.
LRBT (Layton Rehmatullah Benevolent Trust) through its purpose built and appropriately equipped hospitals provide comprehensive eye care ranging from simple refraction to the most advanced retinal surgery and corneal transplants. Keeping in view the needs of the Children’s vision for future progression, PAPCO sponsored cataract surgeries of 50 children through LRBT for their better future.
The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) is the largest public sector health organization in the country which provides free, comprehensive and modern medical care in kidney diseases and transplantation to all. The patients at SIUT are predominantly from the rural and poorer urban strata with virtually no access to medical facilities, and who are financially incapable of affording modern diagnostic, treatment and transplant facilities which are very costly in the private sector. SIUT depends substantially on contributions from the public, corporate bodies and citizens to provide free treatment to all. In this context, PAPCO contributed significantly in order to support the healthcare of the underprivileged.
Community Development
PAPCO has always been a keen supporter in the area of self sustainability. The company targeted to promote entrepreneurship amongst the youth belonging to areas nearby PAPCO’s facilities. In this context, PAPCO partnered with Shell Pakistan and sponsored a series of workshops on “Bright Ideas” which is organized under the umbrella of Shell’s Global LiveWire Tameer Program.
The Shell Livewire International program was initiated by Royal Dutch Shell Plc which has Livewire schemes operating in a total of 23 countries throughout the world. The Shell Livewire International program has helped over 2,800 new businesses to start up with the creation of over 8,900 jobs. The aim of the program is business creation through training and counseling. The process is to help people who want to help themselves.
As part of the plan, the workshops were conducted at 4 different locations i.e. Karachi, Bubak, Shikarpur and Mahmood Kot, near the PAPCO stations.
