High Speed Diesel storage and pumping stations at Port Qasim, Shikarpur and Mahmood Kot.
By-pass facilities for future pumping stations at Bubak and Fazilpur.
1800 HP Motor-driven mainline pumps 4 each at Port Qasim and Shikarpur stations; additional pumps to be installed at Bubak and Fazilpur stations in second phase.
30” unloading line from Fauji Oil Terminal to PAPCO Station at Port Qasim.
817 kms, 26” pipeline from Port Qasim to Mahmood Kot, with links to Karachi Port via PARCO’s Korangi Pumping Station.
Additional Storage Facility of 222,000 tons of HSD at Port Qasim, Shikarpur and Mahmood Kot. About the same quantity is also held in the pipeline which can be accessed in case of national emergencies.
Fiber Optic Cable based communication system with a Microwave back-up system available.
Fiber Optic Cable based State-of-the-art Telecom and Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to ensure that pressure in the line remains within the safe operating parameters at all times.
Emergency Shut Down (ESD) system for overall protection of the system.
Estimated annual freight savings will be around Rs.8.0 billion / year, over a period of 20 to 25 years.
By linking Port Qasim with KPT’s oil handling facilities as well as PARCO’s existing 1250 km cross-country pipeline network, WOPP has tremendously increased the operational flexibility and strategic value of the country’s oil logistics.
